For over 150 years, the Siebel Institute of Technology has featured some of the most notable names in brewing science and technology as part of our extended faculty team. In 2025, we are proud to welcome three new members:
- Dr. Pattie Aron currently serves as the Global Commercial Director for Kalsec Hops and holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Elmira College and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Food Science and Technology from Oregon State University. Dr. Aron has worked as a Senior Hop Chemist at MillerCoors and played a key role in building and managing Rahr Malting Corporation’s technical research and innovation program. Dr. Aron instructs for the advanced-level World Brewing Academy (WBA) programs.
- Jason Pratt achieved the rank of Master Cicerone® through the Cicerone® Certification Program, becoming the 11th person in the world to do so, and in 2024, Jason became co-owner of the program itself. Jason holds a Master of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Michigan State University and has led projects in new and emerging brewing industry segments. Jason teaches in the Master of Beer Styles and Evaluation Course, alongside beer styles expert Randy Mosher.
- Matt Strickland is the Master Distiller for Iron City Distilling in Creighton, PA., and has held numerous roles in the distilling industry, and helped establish multiple distilleries in the U.S. and Canada. Matt is an active educator in the distilled spirits industry, and serves on the Board of Examiners for Distilling at the Institute of Brewing & Distilling. Matt is a prolific writer, contributing technical articles to industry publications and authoring two books for distillers. He joins our extended faculty as the course author and lead instructor for the Craft Distilling Operations and Technology Course.
